Ms Mayor and council members. I was hoping to attend tonight's council meeting but cannot . . . therefore I offer my
thoughts by this email
I appreciate your desire to assist bicyle enthusiasts in SLO but if you continue to attempt to retrofit SLO for bicylce use
please pay attention to the lawbreaking motorists who continue to drive in bike lanes to pass or get to their right turns,
who drive through intersections without looking . . . please urge the chief of police to do something to protect bicylists -
enforce existing laws . . . too many have been injured by careless motorists.
I suggest consider instituting a moratorium on new hotel/motel construction in the downtown until such projects under
construction are completed and brought online. The imposition to business owners, pedestrians, residents of the
downtown has been and continues to be troublesome to many. As some of you may know, I sit on the Cultural Heritage
Committee and we recently rejected a project intended to be a hotel where the Creamary parking lot on Nipomo is
located. Does SLO really need more hotel rooms? Maybe but considering there are plans to construct a parking
structure in the same neighorhood, I think it’s time to rethink the hotel construction necessity.
