I contacted the city when the Anholm project first started and requested information on how frequently the bikeway I live on is used. I believe a study on the use will take place sometime next year. My experience is that the Morro bikeway is not used by many commuter bicycle riders. I see most riders either on Osos/Santa Barbara or Chorro streets and not taking advantage of the bikeway. As a resident my home is landlocked. If I turn on Morro from Church and park on the side of my house I either have to flip a U across the bikeway or try to get out near Gus’s grocery on Osos street. I am very concerned how the bikeway will effect the Anholm area. The streets are narrow and with additional bike lanes it will limit access for emergency and garbage and other service needs. Parking is very congested in all neighborhood that are close to the downtown and it does effect our daily routines. Please take into consideration the people living in this residential area. Almost any age group needs access to parking near their home and especially as we age. I also am aware of the fast traffic from Palm to Lincoln on Chorro. How can this area accommodate any more traffic especially with the freeway exit on Broad that turns onto Peach and then Chorro? Please work with the Anholm area. It is important that our City Council work with the Anhom area on this significant change to the livability of the area and be a part of the team for change. Thank you for your time.
