Eighty years ago rural electrification ushered in a shift in lifestyle and an economic boon to communities. Today the "urban re-electrification" made possible by the CCA business model is changing how we manage the generation, distribution, and use of the monetary power behind the electricity we all use every day. Your choice tonight isn't about stringing wires to connect a community like it was eighty years ago. It is about choosing to locally control and harness a stable, reliable, revenue stream to invest in our community for the decades ahead. The current decisions about the economic fall out of the closure of the Diablo power plant has shown us we do not have local control over our economic fate. Implementing a CCA will allow our cities to join others that are incubating the talent and methods to implement a stable, sustainable, economic future locally. The power we will export will be the power of knowing how to implement the change to local control. With the recent California commitment to one hundred percent renewable generation the market for this talent is growing. . Now is the time to make the choice of local control of our fate. 1
