Subject:Item 11 Tiny Homes (aka trailers or rvs)
Mayor and Council members.
Honestly, I don't get it how you can, with a straight face and clear conscience, allow so called "Tiny Homes" to be up to
400 square feet without a loft. Those aren't "tiny homes" and to say that they meet whatever definition that is "tiny"
certainly tiny isn't 400 sq. ft without at loft.
I took a look at the Hope Village website and they're showing 177 sq. foot trailer units.
Staff's recommendation is a complete farce if the goal is to create affordable housing by allowing trailers and RVs in the
rear yards of residentially zoned properties given the allowed square footage being recommended unless you are going to
require that these "tiny homes" to be rented at very low or low income standards.
One last point. Maybe I missed it but I don't see anything prohibiting "tiny homes" from being rented short term, i.e. Air
BNB or VRBO.
Sincerely,
