I am relatively new to San Luis Obispo (nearly 3 years). I recall eating dinner one evening soon after we moved in on the outdoor patio at Blue Sky Cafe. From our table, we admired the view toward the mountains, remarking how beautiful the sunlight was as it shone on the hills nearing sunset. Now we have a “gorgeous” hotel across the street from where we sat that completely blocks that view. It pains me to think that no one will ever have that view again in San Luis Obispo. Oh, wait! A swimming pool was placed on the roof of that hotel, so visitors - but not townspeople - will have that view as long as they pay the big bucks to stay in the hotel. I remember laughing aloud as I read the article in The Tribune where the owner or developer was quoted as saying how wonderful the view would be from the top. It was a slap in the face! It is evident that developers want nothing more than to make money and this quaint town’s beauty and charm be damned. PLEASE! Draw a line now! Do not allow money to be the deciding factor in who you allow to do whatever they want to the city. Stop allowing the height limit to be moved higher and higher. Stop allowing the visual degradation of San Luis Obispo. Come to your senses! Thank you, Tom Martin 911 Bay Leaf Drive San Luis Obispo, CA 93401-7265 1
