Subject:Proposed building downtown
To whom it may concern on the architectural review committee,
I am strongly opposed to a 75 foot building in the heart of downtown. Some cities with quaint, small business owned
downtown areas have a ban on chain stores. I feel like the city has been increasingly approving large chains downtown
that are driving out the small business owners which is part of the character and soul of our downtown community. We
cannot just continue to grow without thought of traffic parking and the effects to our infrastructure and character. My
hometown of Santa Cruz has incredibly bad traffic all the time, it's like a mini 405 in Los Angeles. I watched it grow and
change and get so crowded I could never see myself living there again and have visited less and less.
When we look at the hotel being built on Palm, it's sad as it blocks some of the views we once had from downtown. We
have height restrictions on buildings downtown for a reason. Please don't approve this monstrosity. It feels like greed is
going to win yet again. Please keep the quaint heart and soul of downtown alive.
Thank you for considering my opinion.
Sincerely,
Liz Espy
