650 Tank Farm Rd.
Chair John Fowler and Planning Commission members,
I sending this to encourage your support of the proposed changes to this property as stated in the staff recommendation
regarding 650 Tank Farm Rd.
At this time, it appears this parcel is basically the only one that has a residential component in an area that incorporates
many employers/employees but virtually no housing. I believe housing is crucial to this overall area of town. Due to the
location of the property, it seems appropriate for this commission to support all the requested changes including the
parking reduction as many of the employees should be able to take advantage of a city goal of trip reductions simply due
to the ability to walk or bicycle to their place of employment. A small bit of ground could be made up with this property
to the jobs/housing imbalance that exists in San Luis Obispo.
The need for good rental housing is in as much demand as "for sale" housing. I believe the changes asked for also apply
to the city goals that encourage not only increasing the supply of housing, but diversity in housing. This appears to meet
both of those goals as well as increasing the supply of affordable rental units.
Thank you for your consideration on my remarks.
Steve Delmartini
