HomeMy WebLinkAbout1/15/2019 Item 9, Czech (3) From:Genevieve Czech < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Affordable Housing clarification provided by Mr. M. Codron While it is always helpful to receive specific replies to questions raised in the public correspondence, the clarification by Mr. Codron leaves room for further clarification. If the city recommends smaller units at 790 Foothill in order to achieve a higher percentage of affordable units, the problem remains the same as currently besetting 22 Chorro, namely that suitable, independently financed candidates are not forthcoming, while there remain many suitable candidates who need larger units. Mr. Codron refers to the restrictions of 250 other affordable housing units in SLO under the authority of the property owner, without disclosing if they too are vacant. If that is so, the City needs review the matter of size appropriateness for those candidates who are indeed not only suitable but in urgent need of affordable housing, namely working families. Perhaps a 2 yearly inspection program is not sufficient to remedy the situation. In the hope of further clarification, Respectfully yours, Genevieve Czech 1
