You received copies of supporting documents with the Notice of Intent to Administer Disciplinary Action served to you by Captain Parkinson on September 9, 2009. Because you are currently on workers compensation leave, this disciplinary suspension will not take effect immediately. Captain Ian Parkinson will coordinate the scheduling of the suspension period once you return from leave. Pursuant to Municipal Code Section 2.36.340B, you have the right to appeal this decision to a hearing officer. You must file the appeal in writing with the Director of Human Resources within fifteen business days following receipt of this notice. Griffith Dear Chief Linden: On behalf of Officer Russell Griffith, I write to advise that he accepts in full the recommended discipline contained in the Notice of Intent to Administer Disciplinary Action issued on August 25, 2009. In order to minimize the inconvenience to the Department, Officer Griffith respectfully requests that the discipline be served prior to his return from injury leave. As you are aware, Officer Griffith has accepted frill responsibility for his actions, remains humbled by his actions, and also solid in his commitment that there will be no recurrence. As a result, has chosen not to challenge the proposed action but, rather, to exercise his opportunity to respond simply by thanking the Department for its consideration of the mitigating factors in selecting the level of discipline.
