Case #: ARCH-2001-2018 Conceptual review of a mixed-use development consisting of 702 residential units and approximately 54,000 square feet of commercial space located in the Manufacturing and Office Zones, with a Mixed-Use Development Overlay and a Special Considerations Overlay; Project Address: 1160 Laurel Lane. Case #: ARCH-2001-2018, zones O-S and M-MU; Thom Jess, applicant. Contact: Kyle Bell – 805-781-7524 – kbell@slocity.org ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm retired and have owned and am living at my condo at Pakrwood Village for the last 4 years. As you may or may not know this is a busy neighborhood. It has a Regional Park with full semi-professional Baseball field , Elementary school and a FULL Amtrak train crossing on the intersection of Laural and Orcutt. Along with all of these there are planned residences for every piece of land within 500 feet of this new plan. We CANNOT AFORD to have a 700 unit residence with commercial facilities in this area. The roads and intersection of Laural and Orcutt CANNOT handle the amount of vehicular traffic that 1,500 to 3,000 people will bring to the 700 new units along with the COMMERCIAL space. I only have one street that gets me out of the complex and onto Laurel Lane. These changes to bring 700 more residences AND commercial stores will keep me from being able to get out of my own neighborhood to do shopping, doctor visits etc. I am asking you to please RECONSIDER and REDUCE the size (4 stories) and number of residential units AND commercial space for this project to half of what has been proposed. I'm NOT against new residences but this is NOT a good plan. Just look!!!! Do you know what the streets look like when a train is going by? When school lets in and out? When the Blues baseball games are in season? When folks are going home from work? The area will be in TOTAL gridlock during these times. It is WRONG to change this area from busy but safe to overcrowded, unsafe and dangerous. Roberta Smith 1021 Southwood Dr Apt A SLO, CA 93401 bobbie.smith@ieee.org 1
