First, I’m confused. Does this go to all advisory bodies? I’m trying to send to the ARC at
this point. But plan on sending to others. Sorry.
Regarding the proposal of a statue and boulders added to Mitchell Park.
I love Mitchell Park. A small oasis of green in our city. I believe it is one of (or perhaps)
the smallest park in our city. Green grass, trees, hedges, flowers. I pass by Mitchell Park
walking or driving often two or three times a day.
I love Mitchell Park. Children playing. Dogs frisking. Yoga being practiced. Young
people slack-lining (but protecting the bark of the trees). Homeless people safely
visiting. Workers taking a lunch break. Families sitting on the grass. A baby on a blanket
with a parent. Children running through to visit the adjoining playground. A gathering
place for major protests. A father teaching his child how to throw and catch a football.
Every inch of green space as our city becomes more congested is priceless.
I love Mitchell Park. As our views of the mountains and landscapes continue to be
decreased by taller buildings, a calm green area where people can relax with nature is
invaluable for our mental health. Even just driving past gives a moment of pleasure.
My objection to the statue and boulders is not political. I would object to any statue of
anything (plus boulders!) decreasing this small green haven.
Please reject this project.
