A mezzanine is a floor inside a tall room; it is not an entire floor. The restaurant and lobby have such a mezzanine. The floor behind it is the second floor; and the building is five stories. If you do nothing else, could you have the height of the restaurant/ lobby reduced to be separate from the floor to the rear, so that the front facade is also reduced in height? it's a nice concept, to have the mezzanine connect to the interior of the hotel with a balcony for seating. However, the front of the building is out of scale with the adjacent Ciopinot building, and this tall room is largely why. The top of the front brick parapet should be lowered to the height of the Ciopinot parapet. A similar approach should be taken in the rear next to the Creamery building. But the more complying approach would be to respect the Historic Preservation standards and require that the building be lowered to three stories, including this mezzanine floor which is actually a story. I would also ask that you increase the landscaping instead of hardscape around the Creek walkway, for a more garden / riparian appearance. Thank you for considering my comments.
