Subject:4/10 Planning Commission - Item 2 Public Comment
Hello,
I would like to provide public comment on Item 2 of the 4/10 Planning Commission gearing tegarding the 660 Tank Farm
Road.
The EV parking calculations do not appear to be in line with the recently approved zoning regulations. Per zoning code
17.72.040, commercial uses that provide more than 25 stalls must provide 10% EV ready plus 25% EV capable. The
submitted site plan only has 13 EV parking out of 214 (or 6%). Per code, there should be 22 EV ready stalls.
I would like to further request additional EV charging at the level of DC fast charging. The DC fast charging is at speeds of
50-350 kW (similar to the EVgo station behind Vons or Tesla Supercharger at Madonna Inn). These fast charging stations
charge EVs within 30 minutes, which is critical for vehicle electrification.
The retail, restaurant, and grocery location at Tank Farm and Orcutt Road is a prime location for visitors to shop and eat
while charging their EVs. The south end of town (Righetti Ranch, Airport area) is vastly growing and the infrastructure
needs to keep up with the growth. This is especially critical to promote a carbon neutral city as defined by previous City
Council goals.
Thank you.
