Subject: proposed developement at tank farm and 227
good morning. although in the past my comments and concerns have gone unanswered and unnoticed, please forward
this email to all parties involved in this approval process.
as a concerned neighbor in the French Park area, this development continues to be a concern.
First, let me make it clear that I am not one of the old school, lived here for generations, and wanted SLO to stay as it
was forever individuals. San Luis most definitely needed change and growth to survive. I am not a nimby; any and all are
welcome to live next door to me at any time. Having descended from poor immigrants, the Nimby white wash of San
Luis Obispo, has been one of my least favorite socio economic profiles encountered here.
However, as we have stated, over and over, the rapid fire, seemingly unplanned development of 227 has and is causing
concern for traffic and safety in this area. I am aware of all of the arguments; the south side of town is the only place for
growth; 227 is a difficult road to plan as it is a cross over jurisdiction of ... well too many organizations...on and on.
The recently finished Righetti development was an unnecessary and terribly planned example of developer greed. The
traffic circle is ridiculous. These homes are far from affordable and only serve one population of buyers. I drive these
streets daily from morning until evening, more and more concerned with 227, as too often it is impossible to turn onto
227 in either direction from Fuller St. Yesterday at 11:00 am the left turn took a full 10 minutes to complete, including
time sitting in the dangerous turning lanes with cross traffic from Fed Ex trucks, UPS trucks, and elderly patients from
the medical buildings on the west side of 227.
With that back story, my concern for this proposed development continues. Yes, we absolutely need more assisted
living facilities here. The fact that it has taken this long for the community to understand that is another part of San Luis'
charm.. i.e. denial as a way of life. That being said, the placement on that corner along with another market and more
commercial business seems dangerous at best. These concerns were expressed when this proposal appeared before, by
many in the area,; the planning commission as usual, responded by " reviewing the matter", but now, again as usual, a
few minor adjustments to roof lines or paint colors and the commission is " born again" and approving this proposal with
glee.
I spend every day at my mothers assisted living and for many years worked in these facilities as a professional. One does
not want the independent residents in their 80s and 90s driving into a busy intersection or road. Reflexes are limited. Its
that simple. The impact of more traffic at this intersection should be obvious to anyone who actually lives here; possibly
a field trip for the planners might be an option? Clearly, staying downtown in their offices is not working well. I welcome
anyone to ride along with me... but only if they enjoy music of the Beatles or R&B from the 70s. as my Sirrius radio is my
only salvation while I encounter the lunacy on 227.
As for the need for another market directly across from Vons? well I will leave that decision for the marketing
departments of the developers and realtors. I do know that the Marigold center continues to have vacancies; I do ask
that whomever was involved in planning and approving the Marigold parking lot have nothing to do with the design and
approval of this new one, as it is one of the worst parking lots ever designed, and has been since day one.

In closing, it would be appreciated if someone.. anyone ... could ever respond to my emails.
Although difficult for me to attend meetings in person, my interest and concern is as important
as those who are more visible. Thank you for your time and consideration. As always, sincerely, Anne Keller
