This project is grossly under parked based upon occupancy. Per SLOMC the 3 two bedroom units provide 12 private
bedrooms constitute a boarding house thereby requiring 12 x 1.5 =18 parking spaces. The 12 one bedroom units as truly
2 bedroom = 24 x .75 = 18 parking spaces.
This pretense of “privacy screen” needs to end as simply a way to obtain double density bonuses and gross reduction in
parking. This is at least the fourth project to utilize this tactic. Either acknowledge the true number of bedrooms and
adhere to City requirements or prohibit floor to ceiling lockable dividers and rental agreements by individual occupant.
There also needs to be some provisions to allow public knowledge that 3 low income inclusionary units are available for
rent.Posting on website and in adverting, newspaper announcements etc.
The minimal “commercial” component is an additional insult to common sense and the purpose and intent of our codes
and guidelines.
Other letters and comments note additional issues as to the building.
