Re: 3985 Broad Street/660 Tank Farm Road – Commercial Center and Assisted Living Facility
Dear Mayor Harmon and Members of the City Council:
I request that you decline the request for further progression of this project.
The city does not need any additional shopping centers, the Marigold shopping center continually has openings. There is
no shortage of commercial space in the SLO area.
A senior living center is ill advised at the proposed location based on traffic and noise considerations, in addition to
compromising the creek at the rear of the property.
The city in general does not have the infrastructure to support such continued unnecessary growth. Further, the growth
your council has supported does not meet the true needs of San Luis Obispo’s current residents in my opinion. My
employees still can’t find housing in the SLO area and commute from Los Osos and Nipomo – contributing to the
significant traffic problem in San Luis Obispo.
I hope you can all take pause, and allow for the true needs of the community to be further defined and planned for.
Sincerely,
J.K.Waldsmith, DVM
