HomeMy WebLinkAbout04-23-2019 PB Minutes Minutes – Personnel Board Meeting of April 23, 2019 Page 1 Minutes PERSONNEL BOARD Tuesday, April 23, 2019 Regular Meeting of the Personnel Board CALL TO ORDER A Regular Meeting of the San Luis Obispo Personnel Board was called to order on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. in the Utilities Conference Room, located at 879 Morro Street, San Luis Obispo, California, by Vice Chair Justice. OATH OF OFFICE Deputy City Clerk Goodwin administered the Oath of Office to Board Members Judy Groat and Keith Dunlop. ROLL CALL Present: Board Members Barrie DuBois, Keith Dunlop, Judy Groat, Calvin Stevens, Vice Chair Louise Justice Absent: None Staff: Human Resources Director Monica Irons, Human Resources Administrative Assistant Elizabeth Turbow, and Deputy City Clerk Heather Goodwin Outside Attendee: Judith Propp, Sloan Sakai Yeung & Wong LLP PUBLIC COMMENT ITEMS NOT ON THE AGENDA None APPROVAL OF MINUTES 1. Consideration of Minutes of the Regular Personnel Board Meeting of November 14, 2017: ACTION: MOTION BY BOARD MEMBER DUBOIS, SECOND BY BOARD MEMBER STEVENS, CARRIED 2-0-3(Members Justice, Dunlop and Groat abstained) to approve the Minutes of the Regular Personnel Board Meeting of November 14, 2017, as presented. PUBLIC COMMENT None Minutes – Personnel Board Meeting of April 23, 2019 Page 2 ELECTION OF CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR Board Member Justice nominated Board Member Dunlop for Chair, consensus vote was unanimous. Board Member DuBois nominated Board Member Stevens for Vice-Chair, consensus vote was unanimous. BUSINESS ITEMS 1. OVERVIEW OF THE PERSONNEL BOARD’S ROLE Human Resources Director, Monica Irons, provided a PowerPoint presentation and responded to Board Member inquiries. 2. BRIEF OVERVIEW OF LEGAL ISSUES Outside Legal Counsel, Judith Propp, presented an overview of the hearing procedures. ADJOURNMENT The meeting was adjourned at 10:00 a.m. The next Regular Personnel Board Meeting shall be held on an as needed basis.
