Subject:Council Compensation Committee
Hello City Council Members
SLO is a vibrant community because of the people who live, work and play here. For the City of SLO to
continue to thrive through prosperous and lean times, we must attract and retain a diverse workforce.
I came to San Luis Obispo to attend Cal Poly over 30 years ago. I consider myself fortunate, as I was able to
find gainful employment and have continued to live in SLO and raise a family. I have worked for several local
businesses, which have been large and small.
I think I can bring to the committee my own SLO experience. Starting off as a young professional to now as a
small business owner in this community. Balancing financial stability and creating a viable employment
packages is challenging and requires creativity and thoughtful consideration. I would like to offer my time and
energies to help define and create what a viable city council compensation package might look like to help to
attract and retain talented candidates for our elected positions.
It would be an honor to serve on the City’s Council Compensation Committee. I welcome the opportunity to
participate
Best,
Candice Wong
