Subject:I support the proposed reach codes
Dear SLO City Council,
I believe that an imperative step in making our homes on the California Central Coast better protected from the ever-
growing threat of wildfire, reduce negative health effects of gas-powered homes, lower the impact on our environment
from natural gas extraction, and most importantly, significantly reduce our emissions as a city.
We have an incredible opportunity to build a community in complete balance with the natural world, rather than one
that continues to damage and deteriorate our environment, thanks to the efforts of the Community Choice program
through Monterey Bay Community Power.
The proposed reach codes will help us as a community achieve the goal of being carbon neutral by 2035, and set an
incredibly powerful example for the rest of the state and nation.
This is an imperative step in achieving such a vital and bold goal, and ignoring its pertinence would ignore the needs of
your community and the wellbeing of future generations.
The financial barrier to this proposal will pay for itself in the money and energy conserved once our Community Choice
program is in place. I implore you to look towards the future implications and benefits of the proposed reach codes.
Sincerely,
Tara Hale
