You need to convince people that all-electric homes are a good idea, not impose your views upon them because if you act like little dictators, you can be sure it will eventually haunt you. In my opinion, a better idea would be to encourage the creation of all-electric developments in SLO, with solar panels and heat pumps, and after people have moved into their homes, to monitor how much it costs the owners or the renters to run them. If the cost is very low, newspapers will report on it, and the owners of the homes will tell their friends. Then more and more people will switch to all electric on their own, especially if the city gives them incentives. It may take longer but it will avoid any backlash. Furthermore, I don’t think it’s wise to limit us to electricity and totally give up on gas. Research is being done in many places right now on methane and hydrogen that would lead to carbon free emissions, something I don’t understand but that sounds well worth following. The more possibilities we have to use renewable energy that does not pollute, the better for everyone. Sincerely, Odile Ayral 1
