We live in the Laguna Lake Neighborhood with our three children and choose to live in this location due to its proximity to natural spaces. However, we often find ourselves driving to Morro Bay, or on occasion Lompoc, to use those pump tracks. We would love to skip the drive and instead be able to use the local spaces in Laguna Lake Park, which has ample space for pump/dirt track and would serve as a fantastic attraction for youth to keep them occupied and for bicycle skill building. We would also support dirt/pump tracks in other parks such as Sinsheimer Park because as the number of bicycling amenities in our town grows, the more residents will take to bicycling as a viable form of transportation leading to more public support for bicycle lane improvements, and the prioritization of bicycling road amenities over those designed to maximize efficiency for cars.. I would love to be able to regularly bike with my family to Sinsheimer Pool, Park or a Blues Game but the current affair of high speed limits, and few other bikes on the road, make this a rare and stressful event. Small steps like building bicycle play/park infrastructure could go along way to improving public support for other bicycle friendly traffic enhancements which would move our city towards it's climate action goals, increase bicycling as a preferred mode of transportation to downtown to improve economic activity, and increase the amount of active transportation which will lead to improved public health, and a reduction in health care expenditures which would work to improve SLO's fiscal sustainability. Thank you for all that you do for our city. Sincerely, Trent Johnson & Jean Davidson 1
