A building of this height anywhere in our downtown core is offensive and excessive by every measure, but it's particularly inappropriate at this site of a major downtown intersection. It will simply dwarf everything around it, and if your past experience is repeated you'll throw in density bonuses and eliminate reasonable parking requirements. Isn't the maximum height limit in our downtown core 50 feet? This proposal represents a 50% increase over present design guidelines! That's beyond excessive and should never be considered. This city council routinely votes in lock step, blindly following directions from the Community Development Department and city staff, with wanton disregard for the wants and opinions of our city's residents, which by the way are your constituents. I urge your unanimous denial of this project with direction to the applicant to present a project that complies with our City's Community Design Guidelines and Historic Preservation Guidelines. Thank you. John Grady San Luis Obispo, CA 1
