The site has long since been an empty blight in our downtown. It would be amazing to restore energy into that intersection. The project proposed as designed by Ten Over studio is exactly the kind of development that our City needs. The proposed location makes sense both for sustainable and fiscal reasons. It would provide much needed housing for our community, prevent sprawl as it is an infill development, and contribute to the downtown vitality. As a near 30 year residence of San Luis Obispo, I've witnessed the changing needs of our community. I first became a resident of the City as a student where the community had a strong no growth message. It has been wonderful to watch our City start to stray from that mentality and to embrace what it is going to take to keep our community viable. We need more developments that propose alternate forms of housing to the 2000 sf single family residence on a quarter acre lot with a two car garage. Housing for all household incomes that encourages alternate forms of transportation is critical in ensuring our communities longevity. This is a perfect example of this type of project. Additionally, as an employer in the area, it is very difficult to find talent who can afford to live in this community. I cannot over emphasize the need our community has for housing in order to support local business and our ability to hire and retain employees in San Luis Obispo.
