Subject:Our Support For The 1144 Chorro Street Mixed Use Project
Hello,
I am Jenny Kompolt and my Partner, Melissa James and I own The Junk Girls located in the old Muzios Space on
Monterey Street. We wanted to take a moment to follow up with you before your review meeting tomorrow regarding
the proposed SLO Collection Mix Use Project being considered at 1144 Chorro Street.
For the past 1.5 years, Melissa and I have had the very fortunate opportunity to work with Therese Chron and the entire
SLO Collection team. We've seen and experienced first hand their professionalism, the way they do things to build
community, their financial ability to do things correctly, their ability to source and secure new businesses to the
properies they represent, their abilty to correctly maintain and foster the businesses within their portfolio - and that is
just a start. These people truly care about our Downtown and have done an amazing job turning Monterey into a
destination street and revitalizing empty spaces into great draws.
The huge space on Chorro is just that, huge. And it has been vacant for a long time. The idea of building a vibrant
cohesive space vs waiting for a large retailer to fill it and/or keeping it vacant longer is an important one. The vitality this
project would bring to that area of town and the subsequent streets would bring more spending dollars to us all.
And at 6 stories, it is no taller than the parking garages and hotels around us now.
We strongly support this project and the Team proposing it.
Thank you for your time in reading this and we would be happy to speak in more detail.
Best Regards,
Jenny
