Subject:1144 Chorro
I am writing today from my position as CEO of the Maino Brothers Corporation I previously notified you of my concerns
as a property owner regarding the proposed project at 1144 Chorro In reviewing the newest rendition I am still very
concerned with the height it’s visual disconnect with the surroundings buildings Additionally with 50 some “affordable “
studio apartments that share a common kitchen area ... it appears you are considering a building similar to a college -like
dorm rather than providing for an entry level professional living opportunity There are large number of “affordable”
housing units coming on the market with the new developments on Orcutt, Buckley and Madonna In addition with the
anticipated closure of Diablo this may not be the right time And with the number of residential units, 7 parking spaces
does not address the added need for parking While it would be nice to think the tenants will ride bikes and not own cars
- that is simply impossible in this area of California.
Downtown offers no grocery stores and other support service are minimal. They will have cars I urge you to consider
reducing the height, request fewer studio residential units , possibly add a few mid-range units, and address the parking
Thank you for your consideration
Kathy Maino Collins, CEO
Maino Brothers Corporation
