Here is the feedback he provided. His initial email: Hello Sgt Schafer. I did the ride along today with OFCR inglehart who was very informative about the city of slo and a great community police officer. Unfortunately I did not feel that slo was the right fit for me. It is a great agency in a great area, I just didn’t feel that I could make the switch. I unfortunately will not be making the interview tomorrow. I am very thankful for our conversations and all your help in this process. You have been fantastic. I left my folder with Sgt booth who put it on your desk. I called the station after the ride along to pick it up but the watch commander was not at the station so I was unable to get my folder. I am leaving back for Los Angeles tonight. How would you like for me to go about getting the folder back? Thank you again for your time” I asked him for more feedback and this is what he wrote: There are a lot of great things such as the area, the pay, the community policing model. There isn’t anything that I felt like slopd could do better. For me it was more of seeing the types of calls for service and the department is a little too small for what I want, although I do not want a large department. And the station was depressing, older and dated, although I know a brand new station will be coming shortly. Also I like having all of the equipment assigned to me “tazer, pas device and so on. Because I know it’s in good working order. The officers and supervisors, including yourself, have gone above and beyond in the process. For me there would be too much change to quickly for what I would want.” Aaron Schafer Police Sergeant Police Department 1042 Walnut Street, San Luis Obispo, CA 93401-2729 E ASchafer@slocity.org T 805.594.8056 slocity.org This e-mail, and any files transmitted with it, are intended only for the person or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential, protected, and/or privileged material.
