I am a New York City-based, professional stage actor and director that has both acted in and directed shows at San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre. In addition, I have worked at dozens of other theatres in many states and done several national tours over the past 20 years. I can say without hesitation that SLO Repertory Theatre, under the leadership of Kevin Harris and his team, is right at the apex of them all. It takes high expectations to convince theatre professionals to fly across the country and dedicate weeks and sometimes months of their lives to putting together a show. Live theatre, even at its best, is a risk and an endeavor of love for all involved. Kevin Harris and this theatre exceeded all those expectations. The team is top-rate, ethical and professional; the town is wonderful; the audiences are enthusiastic and supportive. 1 The only thing that was a surprise to me is that a professional theatre of the caliber of SLO Rep was housed in a space that, while intimate and cozy, presented a myriad of problems that a purpose-built performance space would alleviate. Please approve the building of the new SLO Rep space. Your town is too amazing to be without the first rate space its audiences and performers deserve. San Luis Obispo Repertory Theatre is a gem. It’s time to show it off. Thank you, again, for your time and effort. Sincerely, Lawrence Lesher Actor/Director Sent from my iPad 2
