I have been on the theatre’s board of directors for ten years. I have seen it evolve from a delightful, amateur community theatre to a serious professional organization with the potential to be of enormous cultural and economic benefit to San Luis Obispo and our wider central coast community. 1 The new theatre as designed and planned will:  Enable more members of the community to experience real, live theatre—the kind of theatre that can “open the mind, nourish the soul and illuminate our shared humanity.”  Be an attractive and iconic addition to the arts and cultural core.  Expand the range and scope of plays that can be offered by utilizing both the 200 seat main theatre and the smaller “black box” theatre.  Allow more local youth to take advantage of SLO REP’s Academy of Creative Theatre program, and make possible a new outreach program for local schools.  Draw local people and tourists alike to our downtown who will eat, drink, shop, and stay at our hotels.  Provide additional jobs for local residents in many capacities. Thank you for your consideration, and I hope you will vote to approve this project. Sincerely, Jerry Chirpich SLOREP board member Sent from my iPhone 2
