Dear Planning Commission,
I write this letter in support of our SLO Rep community theatre. I believe it is a powerful asset in our community, and
this is based upon my personal experience.
When I first moved to San Luis Obispo in 2004, I was looking for a way to become part of the community fabric. As a
teacher for SLCUSD, I was able to connect with young people and their parents. But by actively participating as a
volunteer at what was then the Little Theatre--as both an actor and house volunteer--I found a way to connect with the
community itself beyond the confines of my school. I soon felt SLO to be my true home.
And because of my connection to this theatre, I was able to introduce many of my students to the joy of live theatre,
educational opportunities with the wonderful ACT program there, and bring parents and young people into an aspect of
our culture they might possibly have missed.
I am excited about the opportunity for our theatre to expand, with its plethora of talented and dedicated professionals
eager to entertain, guide, and educate our wonderful area. I urge you to approve our proposal and am eager to see
everyone continue to support the staff, volunteers, and many many other community members who love this cultural
asset.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Daniel Freeman
