Regarding upcoming agenda topic: Public support for Bang the Drum brewery located at 1150 Laurel ln, Suite 160 San
Luis Obispo, CA 93401.
Council Members,
I am writing in support of the project to allow Bang the Drum Brewery to have live music and expand their business to
include food and bigger brewing operations at their new location on Laurel lane. I have been a patron of the brewery for
many years and have seen the positive support from the community for this business. I often participate in their open
mic nights since February of this year due to the welcoming nature of the owner, her employees and fellow patrons. I
know of several local businesses that are benefiting from Bang the Drum's activities and business such as Doc's Cellar
brewing supplies, and Grand Central Music shop. Several musicians, myself included, have expressed support for
donating equipment and instruments for the future location. Most of the beer adjuncts like hops, strawberries and
lavender are sourced locally as well. Local shops like Chop restaurant supply will also benefit from the opening.
The new location is an ideal spot for small to medium music performances with little to no impact on surrounding
residential areas. The sooner the business is approved and back open, the area will see a cleaner and more secure
presence for the adjacent bike path, parks and adjacent businesses. Thank you for the opportunity to support our local
businesses and community.
