Subject:San Luis Obispo Repertory Theater
Members of the City Council,
Please consider approving the construction of the San Luis Obispo Repertory Theater, at your up coming
meeting in November. In my experience, the quality of the performances is excellent. In addition, it is
run by a very competent Board and staff.
The theater is an important component of our cultural center being established in our downtown area.
It would be a loss not to have the established Mission, museums, green area along with the Repertory
Theater to compliment the area. The whole cultural center could benefit from shared facilities for all
the public facilities, ie, parking, cafe, public access, walkways and gardens, restrooms. It would also
make access for local and out of town visitors far more convenient as well. Consider also the reduction
in traffic and parking by combining and localizing these destinations.
In summary, this public attraction has proven to be a quality highlight for the community for some
period of time.
