HomeMy WebLinkAbout11/12/2019 Item 10, Evans Wilbanks, Megan From:Meg Evans < To:E-mail Council Website Subject:Nov 12. Agenda Item 10 City Council Members, I urge you to Deny rezoning of properties at 609 & 633 PALM, 610, 614 & 630 MONTEREY, 970 & 972 NIPOMO STREETS if it means the destruction of the Heyd Adobe. I am absolutely a lover of theater but I am also a firm believer that we need to do all we can to keep our historic buildings. The Heyd Adobe at 614 Monterey is a beautiful old building that also has part of an adobe wall still mostly intact. If it does not qualify for historic preservation and deserve protection…. I don’t know what does. It is disturbing that our City can call itself a lover of History and accept Tree City awards and then destroy both when they get in the way. Eventually all we will have is a town that looks like every other town and maybe a sign that will tell us what used to be there. Please, find a way to work with our Irreplaceable past and rework the project a bit. Maybe take a little space from the monstrous parking structure. Future citizens will thank you when we can point to a truly unique San Luis Obispo building saved from the bulldozer. Sincerely, Meg Evans 1
