The Heyd adobe is irreplaceable, and makes no sense that in the Historic District of SLO this history is not honored. Or explored further for a more creative use of this building. I understand the desire to develop SLO Rep Theater's physical presence and the positive impact on their future and their contribution to the San Luis cultural scene. But at what expense do we sacrifice our inherent culture here? I had hoped there were some lessons learned with the destruction of one of the last intact historical aqueducts in California right in our city- done without exploring the opportunities for research and education within our community and from beyond the borders of our community. I implore you to do the necessary re-evaluation of this site and keep the Heyd Adobe where it is. Enough of the history in this area has been erased. Please do your part to honor the past. Although in reality it is just a small building, the message to the community and to the future community is that it mattered.
