The City currently has no enclosed dog park to serve its 12,000 dogs; 2. Location and design can be very flexible, as long as a few criteria are met (e.g. adequately sized, all-weather, reasonable drainage with no significant wet areas); 3. 11 existing parks could allocate at least ½ acre towards an enclosed dog park; 4. Infrastructure/improvement costs are probably cheaper than almost all other recreational uses; and 5. Almost all ages (humans) can enjoy and participate within a dog park. Friends of SLO City Dog Parks encourages your Commission to direct and support staff in making enclosed dog parks an integral part of the Update and future park planning, and making the City of SLO a more dog-friendly place for our canine companions. Thank you for your consideration. John McKenzie Friends of SLO City Dog Parks 1
