HomeMy WebLinkAboutPRR20050 Hui - 911 and Service calls to PDDear Ms./Mrs. Christine Steeb, 1 March 2020 My name is Tan Jia Hui. I am a reporter with Big Local News, a journalism project out of Stanford University. We are working on an effort related to non-emergency calls. Pursuant to my rights under the California Public Records Act (Government Code Section 6250 et seq.), I am asking for the following, which I understand to be held by your agency: data related to non-emergency communications from the public for assistance. I am requesting data on 911 calls/communications from 2013 through 2019, including but not limited to the following fields of information: Case ID, Location (address, latitude and longitude), Zip code, Date and time the call was received, Date and time call was resolved, Status, Status notes, Responsible department, Category of call, Request or call type, Request or call details, Police precinct, Source of call, Other fields of information which may be collected. Additionally, I understand that in some systems, these communications are sent via email, text, Web form, or other methods as well as phone calls. I am requesting all of those types of communication. I also am requesting this data in its granular format, not summary or totals and can accept it in csv file format, spreadsheet or other standard database formats in which you may keep the data. I can accept the data via email, or if you prefer, I can provide a link for uploading it as well. I ask for a determination on this request within 10 days of your receipt of it, and an even prompter reply if you can make that determination without having to review the records in question. If you determine that some but not all of the information is exempt from disclosure and that you intend to withhold it, I ask that you redact it for the time being and make the rest available as requested. In any event, please provide a signed notification citing the legal authorities on which you rely if you determine that any or all of the information is exempt and will not be disclosed. I can be reached at tanjh@stanford.edu or by phone at 650-439-4272 and am happy to talk over this request. I am requesting a waiver of any fees associated with this request as it is in the public interest and not for commercial purpose. If there are fees associated with the request that are not waived, please notify me in advance. Thank you very much for your time. Sincerely, Tan Jia Hui M.A. Journalism Student/Reporter Big Local News, 450 Jane Stanford Way, McClatchy Hall, Department of Communication Stanford University Stanford, CA 94305 Cc: Cheryl Phillips Director, Big Local News, Stanford University cep3@stanford.edu   Dear Ms./Mrs. Christine Steeb, 1 March 2020 My name is Tan Jia Hui.
