Hello Commissioners,
As always, thank you for your time spent working on the P&R commission and, in particular, at this time, the Master
Plan update.
I was a little disheartened to see only three members present for an important discussion about facilities, amenities, and
service levels to be incorporated into the master plan. I hope you will give serious consideration to the choices to made
about facilities and amenities for our future parks.
I wanted to add some input regarding the P&R master plan update discussed Wednesday night. First I would ask that
you “not” plan for the minimum level of facilities/amenities/services discussed in the staff report. Please consider
planning for the addition of the entire unmet recreational needs of an additional 6 acres of parkland per 1,000 residents.
Secondly, I would ask that you “not” consider price when creating your list of facilities and amenities to be incorporated
into the plan. It might be tempting to add only the projects you think the city can afford. Please consider planning for all
unmet needs regardless of the cost. I believe funds cannot be generated/raised unless there is a clearly defined unmet
need and a passion to make it happen.
