Good morning,
I am a real estate broker who represents a client with a very unique problem and I have already been in communication
with the City Public Works and Matt LaFreniere at the Engineering Department about it. Matt suggested I talk to you
about researching this issue to see if there are any documents, staff approvals etc for this particular thing. My client
lives at 1822 Johnson which is on the corner of Johnson and LIzzie. There is a concrete culvert directly under and
partially supporting this home. The home was built in 1928 so obviously the culvert was built sometime before that. So
far I cannot find anything that shows who built it or who has maintained it....other than several City maps that do show
where it is located and how the City has tied into it in some places. (Ironically the current City drainage maps do not
show it)....at any rate the BIG QUESTION is whether or not the City tied into this culvert on or near where it runs through
private property. In 1965 Johnson and part of Lizzie were widened and curbs and gutters were installed. I need to see if
there are any City records that confirms that the City used this culvert to drain/divert water from Lizzie Creek or the
water flow from the hillside behind. Most notably I am looking for documentation about the storm drain that is located
on the side walk right alongside of the property because that drains right into the culvert where it is on private
property.....Can you please provide me with any documentation you have on the "Johnson Street Widening Project"? It
would be some time during or shortly after 1965. Any information you have would be helfpul.
