Our local communities have made extraordinary personal and financial sacrifices to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in California. Those sacrifices should be acknowledged and supported through executive action and legislation that ensures the security of our residents in maintaining housing and providing for their basic health and welfare and that of their families. Accordingly, the City of San Luis Obispo urges you to take prompt and decisive actions to protect our citizens, which should include:  Creation of emergency direct assistance programs for rent and mortgage payments and other housing-related expenses such as utilities, property taxes, and insurance.  Creation of emergency grant programs to small businesses, local governments, and non- profits.  Creation of emergency programs that provide homes and expanded services for people experiencing homelessness. The City of San Luis Obispo urges you to consider these proposals as you continue to work through the many facets of this crisis. Sincerely, Heidi Harmon Mayor City of San Luis Obispo cc: San Luis Obispo City Council U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein, Fax: (202)228-3954 U.S. Senator Kamala Harris, Fax: (202)224-2200 U.S. Congressman Salud Carbajal, Fax: (805)439-3574 State Senator Bill Monning, Fax: (916)651-4917 State Assembly Member Jordan Cunningham, Fax: (916)319-2135
