SLO PD used tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bang grenades last night on the peaceful protestors downtown. Their use
of violence was not mentioned by SLO PD or the City of SLO. These government organizations keep asking citizens to
protest peacefully, but then use violence to silence our voices.
If you truly stand behind the decision to use tear gas and rubber bullets, why isn't it being mentioned in press releases
by either organization? Are you afraid of the backlash? It seems like the lack of transparency in the actions of SLO PD is
to avoid being held accountable.
Additionally, it's easy to stage a photo op of the police kneeling with protestors, but until we start to see systematic
changes being made to how the police function, it's an empty gesture.
