Good morning Ryan,
We don’t submit an annual crime report per se. What we do is submit data on Part I crimes (per Summary
Uniform Crime Reporting) to DOJ. These include homicide, forcible rape, attempted rape, robbery, aggravated
assault, burglary, motor vehicle theft, etc. Due to the size of our agency and reporting guidelines, we do not
report every crime that occurs. Once Cal DOJ receives data from all agencies in California for a year, they
post it on their website. You can look up crimes, clearances, etc. based off of a county as a whole or specific
agencies. Their website is:
https://openjustice.doj.ca.gov/
If you select DATA EXPLORATION you will see a section for Crimes & Clearances. They have data going
back quite a while.

Hello Tera,
I was talking to a reporter at The Tribune several weeks ago and he mentioned that SLOPD is required to send an annual
crime report to the California Department of Justice. I was wondering to what extent these reports are available to the
public.
