Use caution when deciding to open attachments, click links, or respond. Dear SLO Parks and Rec Commission, The recent destruction of the trails and features behind Costco are extremely disappointing. This recreation area was used daily by community members of all ages for years and was the most accessible skill building area in or around the city. Disappointments aside, whats done is done; now how can we move forward? This area is a great location for this, but if this is not the right space, what is? Are there options with public land? City, county, or forest service locations that are easily accessible via bike would be ideal. I believe the growing and thriving mountain bike community here would fully support these efforts in partnership with you. I am personally willing to support these effort, rally the community, donate, plan, design, dig, build, etc.. in a sustainable way. The community needs this. For a bit more context on why I’m so passionate here, I moved here from Washington state 2 years ago where I was a volunteer for the Evergreen Mountain Bike alliance. This non-profit organization partners with the local government, parks and rec, forest service, private land owners, etc… to plan, build, maintain trails systems and is primarily supported by volunteers and donations. If you look into this at all, please consider Duthie Hill Park as an example of what a great partnership can build with the support of the community. It is a truly amazing park that brings so much joy and we can do something very similar here. th Please add this topic to the October 6, 5:30pm agenda. I look forward to joining the discussion. Thank you, Frans Bloom snazzarf@hotmail.com 1
