Dear Advisory Bodies,
There are many disabled and elderly people who patronize the pool as it is their only way to exercise. I have been
swimming for years at the pool since I have Multiple Sclerosis. The Lifeguards have changed since Covid Protocols were
implemented at the pool and while these measures are needed ; they should not present obstacles to the handicapped
or elderly. Lifeguards have told me I am not walking fast enough and that I have to walk longer distances , then I am
capable, due to Covid Protocols.
There needs to be a meeting on ADA compliance as well as being aware that excessive rules will only overwhelm the
Lifeguards and the customers.
SLO has a pool that is not being utilized to its full potential due to reduced hours.
We need to discuss why there is inability to retain Lifeguards and how to solve this problem. We need to maintain our
pool for the physical and mental well being of the community.
