Accidents at intersection of Broad & Woodbridge Streets
Dear Mr. McKiernan,
I am responding to your Public Records Act request dated October 6,2021 in which you
request: "any anO ail vehicle/bicycle/pedestrian accidents for the years 2017-2021 at the
intersection of Broad Street and Woodbridge Street in San Luis Obispo, California.'."
Pursuant to Government Code section 6254(f), "Records of complaints to, or
investigations conducted by...any state or local agency...." are exempt from disclosure.
See alio Haynie v Superior Court (2001) 26 C.4th 1063. Traffic accident reports are
considered part of our investigation and are therefore exempt from disclosure.
I searched our database for those years and located 3 collisions at the requested
intersection. I have attached a copy of the Public Log and a Summary Sheet, which
provides all information that must be released to the public per GC 6254(f), for 2 of the
collisions: 170930020 and 210607095. The third accident involves the decedent named
in your request and as it is a fatal collision and involves a lot of investigation, it has not
been turned into Records yet. Once it is, I can provide you with the same documents as
for the 2 previous collisions. I will continue to check to see if the report has been turned
in and contact you when it is approved to Records for processing.
Please note that another City Department will be responding separately to item (2) listed
in your PRA request.
