Subject:PRC Communication - Sinsheimer Park at night is not a safe place

Hello PRC,
I am writing to express support for the need to add lighting to Sinsheimer Park. I would encourage all the members of
the PRC to take a walk in the evening (with a friend for safety) around the tennis courts, the playground, the disc golf
course and baseball diamonds. I walked through the park with my wife in early January and it feels scary after dark.
Over the past 20 or so years I have advocated for lighting the tennis courts. We had a survey done that showed
overwhelming support but it was been stopped by neighbors who don’t want the park lighted, budget constraints and
not rising to the level necessary to be approved. Softball and little league players have limited access to the diamonds in
the evening, tennis has no lighted courts and the playground is also unusable due to darkness. The most cost effective
way to increase access to recreational facilities is to expand the number of hours that the current facilities by lighting
them. This is especially true during the winter months when daylight is limited. The need for exercise and outdoor
activity is crucial to a healthy community.
Thank you,
Scott Cleere
