SUBJECT: APPOINTMENT OF RACHEL PATRANELLA TO THE TOURISM BUSINESS
IMPROVEMENT DISTRICT BOARD
RECOMMENDATION
Confirm appointment of Rachel Patranella to the Tourism Business Improvement District Board, to
fill an unscheduled vacancy, term ending March 31, 2015.
DISCUSSION
Due to the resignation of Joel Koper from the Tourism Business Improvement District Board there
has been an unscheduled vacancy on the Board.
Staff reviewed the applications received for the recruitment process in March of this year and
contacted the staff liaison Molly Cano, Board Chair Clint Pearce, and Council Liaisons Vice Mayor
Kathy Smith and Council Member John Ashbaugh. During the scope of the interview and
appointment process, liaisons are asked to rate applicants for appointment as well as possible
appointment if an unscheduled vacancy occurs.
Rachel Patranella was one of three applicants from the hotel industry. Rachel Patranella is the
Director of Sales at Hampton Inn & Suites and Joel Koeper is the Branch Manager of the Holiday
Inn Express.
The City Council Liaisons to the Tourism Business Improvement District Board recommend the
appointment of Rachel Patranella to fill the unscheduled vacancy created by the resignation of Joel
Koper.
