Solar EV charger at City Hall “No net new emissions from buildings’ onsite energy use by 2020” (Resolution 11159 (2020)) “It is the policy of the City that new buildings should be all-electric.” (Resolution 11133 (2020)) Rooftop Solar Heat Pump Condenser Current Program All-electric: build to code Mixed fuel: increased performance/efficiency pre-wiring Solar on all buildings Supported with technical assistance, incentives, and regulatory flexibility Planning Commission Participation •May 22, 2019 -Staff provided an informational presentation to Planning Commission about all- electric new buildings. •February 26, 2020 -Planning Commission approved amendments to Title 17 providing regulatory flexibility for all-electric new buildings and adding a definition for "all- electric building." What’s New In 2022? Solar EV charger at City Hall Program Performance New projects are selecting a “mixed-fuel” option about half of the time. This rate is not sufficient to accomplish City-wide goals for greenhouse gas reductions. Key updates include: Encouraging electric heat pump technology for space and water heating. Establishing electric-ready requirements for single - family homes to position owners to use cleaner electric heating and cooking technologies. Expanding solar photovoltaic (PV) system and battery storage standards to make clean energy available onsite. Strengthening ventilation standards to improve indoor air quality.
