ROLL CALL Present: GlennaDeane Dovey, Pierre Rademaker, Ken Schwartz, Dodie Williams Absent: Matt Mackey Staff Present: Audrey Hooper, Jonathan Lowell, Julie O’Connor 3. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Committee approved the July 18, 2005, minutes as submitted. 4. PUBLIC COMMENT No members of the public were present. 5. DISCUSSION OF CONTRIBUTION LIMITS - Dovey (CONTINUED FROM AUGUST 8, 2005 MEETING) Moved by Member Schwartz, seconded by Member Rademaker, double all limits, including reporting thresholds, for candidate elections. The motion carried 4:0 (Mackey absent). 6. REVIEW OF DRAFT AMENDMENTS TO THE ORDINANCE - Lowell (CONTINUED FROM AUGUST 8, 2005 MEETING) The Committee reviewed modifications to the ordinance that were made in accordance with its direction at the August 8, 2005, meeting. Moved by Member Williams, seconded by Member Rademaker, to strike Section 2.40.030 (Definitions) E. (Contributions) 2.b. The motion carried 3:1:0 (Schwartz opposed, Mackey absent). Further modifications were made that will be reflected in the draft presented at the next meeting. ELECTION CAMPAIGN REGULATIONS COMMITTEE 2 The Committee also discussed the filing of campaign statements during the last eight days prior to an election and the publication of campaign statements the Saturday prior to the election. Member Schwartz and Rademaker and Chair Dovey stated that they wanted the publication of the newspaper notice to continue. Member Williams disagreed. The discussion regarding campaign signs will be held on September 8 and will include language that takes into consideration comments made by Committee members. 7. SELECTION OF NEXT MEETING DATE The next meeting will be held on September 8 at 4:00 p.m. (location to be determined). 8.
