SUBJECT:
Submittal of Plans and Specifications for "Bus Facility Access Road
Improvement Project and South Higuera/Prado Overlay, City Plan No. K-38D" .
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By motion, approve Plans and Specifications and Authorize Staff to advertise
for Bids.
DISCUSSION:
The new Bus Maintenance Facility is scheduled for completion this summer. The
existing access road has extensive failure and will be insufficient to handle
the anticipated increase in heavy traffic loads. It is therefore neccessary to
construct a new two lane road of adequate design.
This project will also include an overlay at the intersection of So. Higuera
and Prado Road to provide for a smoother and safer riding surface through the
newly widened intersection.
Significant Impact:
The estimated costs are as follows:
Base Bid: $120,625.00
Contingencies: $ 11 ,375.00
Total: $132,000.00
This project is included in the Capital Facilities Plan of the 1985/1987
Financial Plan. $105,000.00 is appropriated for this project.
This project has been given and EIR clearance by the Planning Department.
Status: Categorical Exemption.
CONSEQUENCE OF NOT TAKING ACTION:
The project may be more expensive to construct at a later date. The existing
roadway will quickly break down and become difficult to use. .
ACTION RECOMMENDED:
Approve the Plans and Specifications and authorize staff to advertise for bids.
