SUBJECT: Southern California Gas Company Annexation
At its March 22nd hearing, the City Council reviewed annexation and growth management
issues raised by this annexation. Following discussion of the proposed Southern
California Gas Company and Irish Hills Golf Course annexations and the Airport Area
Specific Plan, councilmembers asked for additional information on annexation-related
issues: water and sewer systems delivery, supply, and demand; and groundwater supply and
quality were primary topics of concern.
Southern California Gas Annexation was originally.scheduled to return to the council on
April 19th. Staff recommends that review of the annexation be postponed to allow
additional discussion of resource issues raised at the council's March 22nd hearing.
A council study session on resource implications of annexations is tentatively scheduled
for May 10th. Council agendas are heavily impacted due to the number of returning and
new items; councilmembers should continue the Southern California Gas Company Annexation
to a date uncertain, and direct staff to bring it back for action.sometime after the May
10th study session, probably in late May or early June.
