Street Chip Seal Coat Project, City Plan No. N34A.
CAO RECOMMENDATION:
By Resolution approve Plans and Specifications for the 1988
Street Chip Seal Coat Project, City Plan No. N-34A; Authorize
Staff to advertise for bids; Authorize the CAO to Award a
contract after FY 1988-89 funds are appropriated.
BACKGROUND:
The FY 1987-89 Financial Plan provides $100,000 for Chip Seal Coats
during FY 1988-89 . The project defined by these specifications
proposes to accomplish 8 miles of chip seal coatings with the funds
provided.
In order to accomplish the project in July which provides for the
most effective scheduling of City crews, the project needs to be
awarded before the end of June. The project is a FY 1988-89 project
because all expenditures are made during that year. The project
needs to be bid in advance of the appropriation and a contract needs
to be awarded in June after funds for the FY 1988-89 Operating Budget
have been appropriated.
Purchasing Procedure
The provisions of Purchasing Control Manual Section PC-403-3 apply to
this contract.
Fiscal Impact•
Engineer's estimate $ 98,000.00
Funds Available:
The FY 1988-89 budget scheduled for approval in June 1988 requests
the funds for this project.
Recommendation:
By Resolution approve. Plans and Specifications for the 1988 Chip Seal
Coat Project, City Plan No. N-34A; authorize staff to advertise for
bids; find that the project is not of sensitive or exceptional
community interest; and authorize the CAO to Award a contract after
FY 1988-89 funds are appropriated.

RESOLUTION NO. (1988 SERIES)
A RESOLUTION OF THE COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN LUIS OBISPO APPROPRIATING
FUNDS AND APPROVING A PROJECT
WHEREAS, the FY 1987-89 Financial Plan identifies the funds needed for
the 1988 Street Chip Seal Coat Project; and
WHEREAS, the chip seal project is an routine annual maintenance
program; and
WHEREAS, Plans and Specifications have been prepared for the project
with an estimated cost of $ 100,000.00;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of San Luis
Obispo as follows:
SECTION 1. The plans and specifications are approved and staff is
1 authorized to advertise for bids.
SECTION 3. The
project Is not of sensitive or exceptional community
interest and the CAO is authorized to award a contract after
Appropriations have been approved for the FY 1988-89 Operating Budget.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall furnish a copy of this resolution to
the Director of the Public Works and Finance Departments.
